Permanent - Full Time
St. Peter's School, Cambridge
Swim School

St Peter's Swim Club is seeking an inspiring and experienced Head Coach to drive our vision of establishing a program of national renown at our world-class campus in Cambridge. This is more than a coaching role; it is a leadership position pivotal to developing well-rounded young individuals and fostering a lifelong love for the sport. We are committed to nurturing excellence from the first splash to the performance level, leveraging our exceptional facilities.

The Head Coach will be the driving force in achieving competitive success, fostering community integration by welcoming both St Peter's students and external members, and making the club a central hub for swimming in the Waikato region.

You will be responsible for ensuring a seamless and supportive pathway for all students, instilling the key pillars of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. Your success will be defined by both individual goals (from competitive to fitness) and strong, sustained participation from both St Peter’s students and external community members. Ultimately, you will be a positive role model whose leadership defines the success of competitive swimmers and strengthens student wellbeing across the club.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage the Swim Club, developing an annual student-centric swim program aligned with the overall sports vision.
  • Devise and deliver a coherent and effective swim strategy and operational plan that promotes both sporting performance and inclusion across all abilities.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the swim coach team, fostering an ethos of "being the best you can be" and ensuring best practice in coaching, psychology, and training.
  • Oversee all levels of swimming, developing progression coaching plans and improvement pathways for all swimmers.
  • Establish individual swimmer objectives from introduction to elite programmes, leading competitive swimmers towards national and/or international programs.
  • Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including the Swim Club Committee, parents, and community groups.
  • Ensure compliance with all Child Protection and Health and Safety requirements.

What You'll Bring
We are looking for a highly professional and resilient leader who embodies our school values of Excellence, Community, Wellbeing, Special Character, and Sustainability.

  • Emerging experience as a senior coach at a national level within a swimming club and/or secondary school environment.
  • Experience in supporting swimmers on their journey to becoming national level athletes and attending national and/or international events.
  • Swim Coaching accreditation, current First Aid certification, and the capacity to be lifeguard trained and accredited.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and use sound decision-making skills.

If you are ready to be a positive role model, champion continuous improvement, and build a lasting legacy, we encourage you to apply.
