This is a hands-on and varied role responsible for planning, co-ordinating and delivering a diverse programme of high-quality events and engagement initiatives across the school.

From major school celebrations and community events through to smaller stakeholder experiences, you will play a key role in creating memorable occasions that bring people together, strengthen relationships and bring the St Peter's story and values to life.  You will also support the ongoing development and engagement of our alumni community, helping ensure former students remain connected to St Peter's and have meaningful opportunities to participate in and contribute to the life of the school.

Reporting to the Manager – Communications, Marketing & Events, you will work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across St Peter's to deliver engaging, professional and well-executed experiences.

Key responsibilities:

1. Event Planning & Delivery

  • Plan and manage school events from concept through to delivery.
  • Co-ordinate & engage the services of suitable suppliers and contractors.
  • Maintain the annual event calendar and ensure all internal and external stakeholders are engaged.
  • Prepare detailed event plans, run sheets, timelines, budgets, post event evaluations and where required, risk assessments.
  • Recruit and manage student volunteers at major events.

2. Alumni Engagement & Support

  • Maintain and proactively develop the alumni database, ensuring records are accurate, current and appropriately managed.
  • Identify opportunities to collect and update alumni information through events, communications, digital channels and other engagement activities.
  • Build positive relationships with alumni and respond to enquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.

3. Communications & Promotion

  • Promote events and engagement initiatives through appropriate school and community channels.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Specialists to develop engaging content, communications and promotional material to support events and alumni initiatives.
  • Contribute alumni stories, news and achievements to appropriate school communications and digital channels
  • Ensure event and alumni communications are timely, consistent and aligned with St Peter’s brand and tone of voice.

4.  Projects

Assist with any other projects, within the Communications, Marketing & Events team as required.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a similar event planning or coordination role.
  • A qualification in Event Management or a relevant field is preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with suppliers, students, staff, parents, alumni and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Financial and budget management capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, CRM systems.
  • Full New Zealand driver's licence, access to reliable transport, and a valid right to work in New Zealand.
  • Ability to represent the school professionally and consistently reflect St Peter's values, brand and philosophy.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends, in support of key events.
  • A reasonable level of physical fitness, as the role includes physical event set-up and pack-down activities.

Position Details:

  • Location: Required to be on-campus Monday to Friday, including during term breaks.
  • Commencement: Position to commence as soon as possible.
